The American Fibertek 88 Series multiplexes 8 channels of supervised input dry contact closure on one multimode fiber. A set of 8 LEDs on the transmitter and the receiver units indicates the channel(s) status. The Contact Input supervision will detect an open connection and a shorted connection as an alarm. The alarm condition is removed only when the Contact Input voltage falls within a predetermined range. Failsafe operation is provided such that, if the optical power is lost or the transmitter or receiver DC power is lost, the normally open contact outputs will go to the alarm states (open). Diagnostic indicators provide a quick visual indication of system status.
